Just a word about birthdays and why we celebrate birthdays with a cake with candles on it!!!
Some scholars believe the tradition actually started in Germany, where a candle was supposedly placed on the cake to represent “the light of life”.
It is believed that the first actual birthday cake was made in Germany in the Middle Ages. The Germans would celebrate children’s birthdays with cake, calling the celebration Kinderfest. These cakes were a coarse, bread-like product, and later became a much sweeter version.
In the 17th-century birthday cakes were made more elaborate with details like icing, layers, and decorations, like flowers. However, these kinds of cakes were only affordable by the wealthy, upper class due to the high-priced ingredients.
In the 18th century, food and baking utensils became more accessible and therefore affordable. With that, the price of cakes went down significantly and the number of cakes produced went up considerably.
Today we happily celebrate with a cake, some candles, and a birthday song. So, Happy Birthday To You!!!!
Why Do We Blow Out Candles on Birthday Cakes?
The origin of the birthday candle is murky. Some sources say it is from the ancient Greeks, who lit cakes with candles as a sacrifice. Others suggest the tradition of wish-making traces to pagan customs. Back when practitioners believed that the smoke of an extinguished candle carried prayers to the spirit world. Unfortunately, there’s no solid evidence that either practice is the origin of the modern birthday celebration.
Rather, the tradition of putting candles on a birthday cake has a history similar to that of the Christmas tree and Easter bunny: All are German imports.
About your birthdays
People between 40-60 years of age enjoy the happiest 20 years of their lives. But those in their 30’s may have the worst 10 years. People in their 20’s are still children. As you get to 50 years old, things have really gotten interesting. Your children may still draining your Bank Account. Or you may be in the middle of a divorce. Your daughters may be planning a wedding and that could really tug on the purse strings. But otherwise, you are doing fine. Life may have given you some bumps but you have gotten through them. Age 60 and more
When you hit 60 years old, if you have taken care of yourself you will be fine. I actually found that from 60-80 have been the very best times of my life. Retired and free to travel – go where I want when I want. I’ve chalked up 22 cruises, including one to Europe. Our children are grown and on their own. Our life is our own!! If your health is good, make the most of these years!!!!

If you are just in your 30’s
Your 30’s can be a tough period of years. Lots of changes! It might be the worst or the best 10 years of your life. I hope the best, but there are a lot of decisions to make. During this time you may get married, start a family, buy a home, and try to build a successful career. This is a serious time. It is time to build a strong foundation. The very best to you!!!
20 Year Old’s Birthdays
Happy Birthday and enjoy these years!! Have fun!! But behave!! Like I said earlier the Human Brain doesn’t fully mature until you are 26 years old. So until then, stay home with your parents as long as you can. The world is wicked out there. Take your time with getting married. I married at 20 and had my child when I was 21. Divorced at 25 and raised my son alone. Not a great recipe for life but I made it. That is the last thing you want. Give yourself time to grow and find your niche — the right job, the right location, and the right woman. Don’t be in a hurry – you have a long time to go!!

My Advice to you is important so listen up. First, don’t Get Married until you are 30 years old.
