This is an easy cookie recipe that kids can make with or without adult supervision depending upon their age. Since the icing is done on the stove over a double-boiler, perhaps an adult should be there.
Chocolate Tipped Cookies
- 1 cup butter or margarine softened
- 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 2-1/4 cups flour
Cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in vanilla
Gradually add the flour until just blended
Use a cookie press to form cookies about 3″ long by about 2″ apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Or. without a cookie press, you can roll the dough into a rectangle about 1/8″ thick and but into pieces 3″ x 1″ placed on the ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 to 20 minutes until slightly brown.
When cool, dip the ends of each cookie into the Chocolate Frosting (see below)
Chocolate Frosting
- 4 (1 ounce) squares semi-sweet chocolate
- 3 tablespoons light cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Melt chocolate in top of a double-boiler over water. When melted stir in the cream and vanilla and dip each end of each cookie. Sprinkle with nuts or sprinkles if desired.
