Curly Hair Help

Talking about Curly Hair Help by me should be a no-no. I sadly am not blessed with curly hair. I fall into the Type 1A category much to the chagrin of my Mother who had beautiful natural curly, easily managed hair. Her setting technique was putting her head over the steam from the tea kettle. And she scorched my ears several times trying to coax a bit of even wave into my hair with her tea kettle. When that didn’t work, she went to the oil treatments, which were equally disastrous. Alas, there was no Google back in my childhood days. Today, we are fortunate to have information available at our finger-tips. This page will be devoted mostly to introducing an amazing product kit to assist people to manage their curly hair.

Just a Bit about Hair Type

Curly vs Straight

Hair type can be broken into four categories, and then further into subcategories. Check out the table below to find your hair type. Unfortunately, we are born with it so we can’t change it, but we can learn the easiest ways to deal with it. One of our leaders recently started letting her wavy hair dry naturally after years of trying to tame it. It was really lovely just left naturally to dry.

Type 1Straight hairno natural curl
Type 2Wavy hairgentle, tousled texture. From the roots your hair is fairly straight .but toward the ends, you have a loose, undefined wave.
Type 3Curly hairThree types A) S-shaped curls form loose loops B) curls have a circumference about as wide as the barrel of a Sharpie marker and C) curls are tight and springy — they would coil perfectly around a drinking straw.
Type 4Coily hairAgain three types A) S-shaped coil you could wrap around a chopstick B) The hair zig-zags and C) these coils are the tightest and most fragile

Though sometimes controversial, the natural hair type chart is a tool to begin to understand one’s hair and how to best care for it. Type 1 is the straightest category, with texture increasing all the way to Type 4, which is the kinkiest curl. No matter your hair type (they are all beautiful!), you’ll want to learn how to best take care of your strands.

Curly Hair Help

The Perfect Kit for Wash Day

This kit comes with five tools to help with each step of the curly hair Wash Day. It contains a Scalp Massaging Shampoo Brush, Microwaveable Deep Condition Cap, Honeycomb Detangling Brush, Microfiber Towel Turban and Continuous Spray Bottle.

Scalp Massaging Shampoo Brush

This brush promotes healthy curls starting from the scalp. The flexible bristles permit your shampoo to reach the base of your scalp. This leaves your hair squeaky clean and stimulates new growth.

Microwaveable Deep Condition Cap

This item assists you in the moisturizing process. Apply your own favorite deep conditioner. Then pop this cap in the microwave to an easy at-home heat treatment.

Honeycomb Detangling Brush

This is a uniquely designed brush that is bendable and twists and stretches while it detangles. Separate your hair in sections and use the brush in a vertical motion to detangle your hair. And then switch to a horizontal motion to define your curls. The brush is also super easy to clean. I know you will enjoy this “ouchless” brush. It works with your hair and not against it.

Microfiber Towel Turban

This is a microfiber towel is made of a soft fabric that hugs your curls. Normal cotton towels cause breakage at your ends which slows growth. The towel is easily secured to your head with a button closure turning it into a stylish turban. It will prevent breakage and split ends.

Continuous Spray Bottle

This is a 300 ml bottle that releases a continuous, even spray. Use it to add moisture to your curls. This bottle requires no continuous pumping just to get your hair damp to help quickly bring moisture to your curls. No more pumping 500 times just to get your hair damp. Add your favorite oil for an extra boost during the week.

Summary

While the above kit was designed to help people with curly hair, I am intrigued with the items even though my hair is perfectly straight. The brush looks awesome as does the turban, so I might order it for myself. I bet the massaging shampoo brush would feel good for me too. And I know my hair stylish would relish the Continuous Spray Bottle. She works so hard pumping a spray bottle to wet my hair for cutting.
