What seems to be lacking in society today is an understanding of how our Governments work. We are “ruled” by laws at the city, state and federal level, yet most of us take these laws for granted and obey them. Therefore, I would like to start a discussion here (non-political) to examine these different levels of government in the USA. Also, different items within each that may be of interest to you.
FEDERAL
The United States is designated as a Democracy – Government of the People, By the People and for the People. Everyone, regardless of where they reside within the continental United States is governed and protected by Federal Law. No person is above this law.
Air Force One

Presenting an indepth look at the plane designated to carry the U. S. President.
Apollo 11
Last night on CNN, I watched a film about Apollo 11 Landing on the Moon. Twenty-fours later, I am still in awe of that film and the actual fete of that mission. When it actually happened on July 20, 1969, I was like most people my age, busy with work and life while it was happening. I was aware of it from previous night’s news. And that evening, I saw the historic image on the TV news, with Walter Cronkite repeating Armstrong’s famous words. “One small step for man; one giant leap for mankind”.
We The People
An essay about equality and equity in the Government.
STATE GOVERNMENTS
Each of the fifty states has unique laws and governing styles. And each state also has unique and historic landmarks.
CITY and COUNTY GOVERNMENTS
The population within each state is divided into counties or parishes and cities.
Comments About Further Information
This is a menu of items that will be added as time goes by. I do not intend for it to be solely a Civics lesson, although one may be sorely needed. However, since I have lived and worked in the Nation’s capital and also several states and cities, I feel qualified to add some items of interest at each level. Perhaps the U.S. Constitution is a place to start. Each person should read it at least once, although there are many scholastic programs that examine each Article in depth. Over the history of the country there have been countless debates about the exact meaning of items within it. The Supreme Court has studied it and made many rulings over the history of the country with regard to it. But it is still the basis for our government.
