WHEN BUYING GIFTS
Finding the right gift for a person is a talent. You need to be observant of the person you are planning to present with a gift. Be sure to buy something THEY would like and not something that appeals just to you. I love to shop through catalogs year-round, marking things that I think will appeal to friends and family members. So I tend to have my Christmas shopping done way before Thanksgiving. Why? Because I have been looking and collecting all year.
I tend to collect many small things over that period of time, not just one big splashy last-minute gift. My granddaughter is especially difficult for me to buy for. She doesn’t like girly things, which seem to be the kind of things I see and want to buy for her. Further, she is not “into” jewelry and ruffles. She is a horsewoman and a tour bus driver. She really presents me with difficulty, but keeping her likes in mind, I have been fortunate to find items that she really liked. This past Christmas, it was a blue jean jacket with a plaid flannel lining. It was a bit loose and flared and fit her perfectly. The jacket was a lucky find and a purchase I made back in September.
