A SkyMagic Drone Light Show is awesome. If you haven’t seen one yet, you are missing out on the newest and greatest creation that I have seen in many years. For years and years, we have gathered to watch awesome fireworks displays on Holidays and after special events. The fireworks on a Friday night after a baseball game is common. This past Friday night, after the Arizona Diamondback – Pittsburgh Pirates baseball game started as usual until I realized that what I was seeing wasn’t fireworks. The announcers told us it was drones.
I was absolutely enchanted with the show which included an image of a baseball player with a number 12 on his back. It was that image that got me watching and listening closer. It was then I realized I wasn’t watching just an ordinary Friday night firework show.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t capture the image from my TV and I have not been able to find it again on the Internet, but I have done some research into this MAGIC show.
SkyMagic for the Queen’s Jubilee
The first thing I found was images that were displayed over the palace in London for the Jubilee. They were awesome and included a teapot pouring tea into a tea cup. Also the crown inside the zero of the number 70. But the image that the audience most like was that of a Corgi, the Queen’s favorite dogs.
Further searching found the company’s home page with images of shows from New Year’s Eve in London and other major events. I am wondering why I hadn’t heard about this sooner.
SkyMagic Drone Light Show Technology
All of this sky magic is the inspiration of an amazing company based in Singapore and the United Kingdom. They have managed to take the drone and turn it into amazing devices to be able to paint the sky.
Each of the night drones are illuminated with 2km LED lights. It is through these devices, which can be controlled remotely, that the light shows can be choreographed. First on paper, then on the computer, much as a formation for a marching band at a football game halftime. Each drone has a specific GPS address when it is launched and the unique patterns can be achieved. Of course, practice first on the ground has to happen.
