As a Student Instructor, I find myself creating new Help Pages (explanations) for things from time to time and rather than do them over and over, I have now decided to put them here on my website under this separate category. Of course, Rory’s Training Pages are foremost and these are only a little extra.

Word Press Gotchas
Word Press is a very helpful tool we use in creating our web pages. However, under Readability, there are two items that are constantly a problem – Passive Voice and Transition Words. I can’t give you an easy fix for either one, but two things that I’ve sort of figured out to get the green is this. Both are based upon a percentage. Passive Voice wants you down around 10{0cdeda01f3f3bfc56e7a77b9bf298b3f7d32c3660f53c61fbe1a94dd1c6575f6} – that is less than 10{0cdeda01f3f3bfc56e7a77b9bf298b3f7d32c3660f53c61fbe1a94dd1c6575f6} of your page has sentences that are in Passive Voice. That’s not many. Go here to learn more.
Thankfully we are now using Rank Math instead of Yoast SEO, so the above issue is no longer a problem for you with writing your page. I will try to do a Rank Math page soon.
Student Help Pages Conclusion
Student Help Pages will continue to be added here as topics become necessary to be documented in more simple language. Our over-all community is growing rapidly and new items and topics are coming quite quickly. Some are more difficult to understand and to stay on top of. I will use this category to document new items that need further clarification. The topics are for my students, sometimes in different words than what they are presented by Rory and others.
I try to break things down to as simple language and to compare items to familiar things the students. Not all of the beginning students come in at the same technical level. Making sure that they become comfortable with their surroundings and tools here is my job as an instructor.
Since I have worked in the technical fields for many years, I feel qualified to write these information pages. I am not in any way attempting to override what Rory, Shane, Kathleen or others teach. They have been invaluable sources for me. And I know they will continue to provide great instruction, but as we continue to grow, their burden becomes greater. I hope I will be able to help here with their teachings.
